Pharmacy

Description

Non-Dispensing Pharmacy.

A Pharmacy is a “store” where medicinal Drugs are dispensed and sold.

“Pharmacy” can also mean: the science or practice of the preparation and dispensing of medical Drugs.

SureScripts is a gateway for all the Pharmacies. SureScripts maintains:

  • which Pharmacies exist,
  • what Drugs they have, and
  • their Location.

Health Care Providers use SureScripts to determine what Pharmacy to use for a specific Prescription of a specific Drug for a specific patient. If the preferred Pharmacy doesn’t have some Drugs, it allows them to select a different one in the same area.

They now are a marketplace where Medication can be purchased.

 Medication History

SureScripts also maintains almost all the Medication History that a patient has used in the past. (Some patients and some Pharmacies choose not to participate, which makes their data approximately 90% Complete).

 User Interface

SureScripts has very strict rules on the User Interface that is presented to patients when their service is being used. If your app does not meet those requirements, they will tell you what you have to change, and they won’t service you until you have.

 Drug Database

SureScripts can also interface with a Drug Database Provider. Whether this can be any Drug Database Provider or whether it has to be Medispan is unclear.
