The mention of a “Billing system” elicits a range of emotions. Those that find themselves on the paying side tend to express some disquietude, while those on the receiving end naturally feel pleased. However, joking aside, nobody has an issue with paying a bill when they receive value for their money. We believe that enhancing quality of life involves the ability to deliver more health care for less. That is why we developed Connected Diagnostics and created the SafeCDx platform: to enable you to deliver more to your customers for less.
Nevertheless, it’s important to acknowledge that at the end of the day there is no such thing as a free lunch. Even though SafeCDx empowers you to offer services to your customers at an unprecedented low cost, you still require means to charge them for those services. That is one of the problems Billing solves.
Now that we established that we need to bill customers, the next question could be: how much should they be charged? Well, that depends. What did they purchase or utilize? You need an itemized list detailing their usage and quantity. That’s another problem Billing solves.
Once we have identified who used what and how much, we could simply multiply the usage by the unit prince, and voila, we’d have our bill. However, since no two customers are the same, we may not want to treat them the same. Some may only use your services incidentally and would prefer to pay as they go. Others, however, may prefer bulk service purchases. What you may be looking for are Billing Plans. The Billing system can accommodate various plans tailored to different customer needs. Needless to say, if a one-size-fits-all approach suits your requirements, you can stick to the default plan.
There is one aspect that we have yet to explore: How do you integrate SafeCDx billing data into your ERP product? That is where ERP Connectors come into play. They enable seamless integration between the Billing system and numerous ERP systems.

Medical Billing is very complex and is generally managed using an EHR.
When Safe Health consumes medical services from Test Labs for example, there are two ways to handle Billing:
- Either they bill us and we make an Insurance Claim or
- They themselves generate an Insurance Claim.
In the context of SafeCDx a Solution consist of Systems. For Billing the items on the invoice are the aggregation of all the Metered transactions of the Systems that are part of the Solution. The consequence may be that the invoice contains one item “Storage”, for example, which is composed of S3 Storage used by System A, and database Storage that is used by System B and C, in the context of the specific Solution Instance.
